Fashion abroad

Fashion in Japan
Japanese fashion is not very different from the western fashion, it's just a lot more extreme. In Japan, colouring your hair blond is very popular, wearing a lot of make-up is a must, wearing high-heels is normal and a wearing a too cute dress to school is casual. It's fun to see it, but I would never dress up like that. Woman would wear a ribbon vest on a lace shirt and a wide pant with high heels. I would wear the ribbon vest on a basic colour dress or the lace shirt on a coloured pant. Men in Japan would wear a womans bag or have a woman's wallet. That's the weardest thing I have ever seen, but honestly I liked it. When the men wear a basic woman's bag on a suit it does looks rather stylish than metrosexual. They would wear a woman's tote and when they choose a wallet it's either Gucci or Louis Vuitton. But walking around in Tokyo, I did question myself: What exactly is Japanese fashion? The way british fashion store sell Japanese fashion. Yes Japan has local brands, and they are pretty awsome too! They have local shoe brands, which ofcourse didn't fit my extra large feet and local clothing labels which did fit me and looks very trendy. But yeah, what is Japanese fashion? Some of the stuff people wore, are already last season in Europe. Like the lace leggings, those are already last years in the Netherlands. They didn't really have the green hype, like we do this summer. But they did have a lot of very nice bags, mostly very catchy and very very pretty (I'm talking about local brands), though a little expensive. And also Japan's designers have very good eyes for jewelry. They would wear a hair clip or tiara with jewelry on it, but still the jewelry looks basic. And what I mostly loved about Japanese fashion is the quality is good! Great actually. My friend, Phill, would say: "This is not China!"

Fashion in Japan!
Since Japanese fashion is becoming more popular in the western world I want to compare European fashion and what we think is Japanese, with what is really Japanese.
A lot of brands which sell themselves as Japanese, like Superdry and Kuyichi, are not made and designed in Japan. The founders of them are mostly Japanese people living in Europe, so the head-office is also in Europe.
From what I've heard Japanese locals love European labels like, Louis Vuitton and Hermรจs.
I'll make a comparison and try my best to show you as much as possible.
